Porridge happens to be one of the breakfast dishes on my weekly menu. It’s fulfilling and good for your health too. Mostly porridge are made with rice. In this recipe I am using oats which takes it to a whole new level.

If you are not an oats lover, this recipe is sure to make you eat them. The Indian masala twist is what makes this recipe an exceptional one. Give it a try and enjoy it.

Ingredients 

  • 6 tbsp quick cooking oats(I use quaker oats)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 clove garlic chopped
  • 1/2 carrot chopped
  • 4 beans chopped
  • 1/4 cup green peas
  • Coriander leaves chopped
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric  powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • Salt

Directions

1. In a cooker or vessel, heat butter and add in the garlic and chopped vegetables. Stir fry for a few minutes.


2. Add in the salt,chilli powder, turmeric powder and garam masala. Mix them well.


3. Add 4 cups water. Check for salt.

4. When the water comes to a boil, add in the oats.


5. Allow the oats to cook at medium heat for 5 -8 minutes. The porridge will thicken.

Yummy spicy oats porridge is ready to be served. Garnish with some chopped coriander leaves.
